Giovanna Tamà works as an independent painting conservator specializing in old masters. In 2010 she completed her master's degree in the conservation and restoration of paintings at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp. She gained professional experience at prestigious institutions, including the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and the Stichting Restauratie Atelier Limburg (SRAL) in Maastricht.
Subsequently, her career led her to the Royal Institute for Cultural Art Heritage (KIK-IRPA) in Brussels, where she engaged in a comprehensive material technical study of a self-portrait by the renowned Belgian artist Constant Permeke. Giovanna Tamà also collaborated with IPARC (International Platform for Art, Research and Conservation) on the restoration campaign involving 41 paintings from the Carolus Borromeus Church in Antwerp and the restoration of eight ceiling paintings by Jacob Jordaens, originally from the Jacob Jordaens House.
Currently she is engaged in projects for prominent institutions such as the Museum Hof van Busleyden, The Phoebus Foundation, and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp. This year, she will embark on a new endeavor alongside a team of conservators, researchers and art historians, focusing on the restoration of the monumental altarpiece "Enthroned Madonna Surrounded by Saints" by the eminent artist Peter Paul Rubens at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Antwerp (KMSKA).
